Since it's one of the newer hotels on the Strip, it also doesn't have much of the wear and tear you will find at older hotels like the Stratosphere and the Tropicana. This combined with a pristine botanical garden, a beautiful courtyard, and large elegant rooms makes this hotel a site to see.

Location
One of the first things you're going to learn on your Las Vegas vacation is that it can be a bit challenging getting around. The Strip (i.e. where the main attractions are located) is over 4 miles long! Therefore, you're going to spend a lot of time walking or riding a cab from different attractions. That's why having a hotel at the heart of all the action is so important! Located right in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip, the Bellagio offers easy access to all of the main attractions. Trust me on this one! Your feet will thank you for it!

Cleanliness
I don't know about you, but one of the main things that I look for in a hotel is cleanliness. It's just hard to get a good night sleep when you're worried about how clean the sheets are. Well the Bellagio is one hotel where you won't have that problem. From the lobby down to the rooms, every inch of the hotel is extremely clean. Also, what you might not realize is that it's legal to smoke in Las Vegas casinos. So unless you're a smoker, it's kind of hard to find a hotel that doesn't smell, I mean seriously SMELL, like years of built up cigarette smoke. The Bellagio is one of the few hotels that I know off where you won't have that problem. Let's hope it stays that way!

Family Travel Checklist

Travelling with a family can be a nightmare. Most family travel meets some sort of major emergency or crisis during the planning phase, and it usually occurs right before they are due to go to the airport for departure. No matter how well the parents have planned, something never ever fits in and this can cause extreme panic when there are several children to deal with as well as making sure that everyone arrives at their vacation destination in one piece.

Six Months To Go
1. Assess your financial situation and estimate spending money
2. Collect information on the places that you would like to go. The Internet is a great resource, but you can also use travel guides and brochures to get an idea of the type of hotel to stay in.

Five Months To Go
1. This is the absolute latest that you should book your vacation accommodation to make sure that you have plenty of time to plan the family travel from start to finish. Remember to compare prices and check out deals and discounts.
2. Book family air travel and confirm the departure times and dates.
3. If you do not already have one, apply for a passport and look into the family travel destination to see whether you need further documentation, such as a visa.
4. Apply for a visa or permit if necessary, making sure that you comply with all of the requirements.

Three Months To Go
1. Begin to plan out activities for the whole family. Research the activities in the local area that are suitable for family travel, as well as the prices and availability because it may be necessary to book some activities in advance.
2. Check and compare travel insurance policies and purchase the family travel policy that best suits your needs.
3. Make an appointment with the family doctor for the necessary vaccinations. This can be found on the embassy website, in the same place as the visa requirements that you researched previously.

A Week To Go
1. Purchase all travellers checks and money required for family travel.
2. Cancel any regular deliveries that you may have and pay up any bills, making sure that there is enough money in your account to cover any remaining bills
3. Pack for family travel!

After this checklist is complete, you should be good to go so you can just relax and enjoy yourself!

Travelling at Thanksgiving - Have a Plan

You only have to be at any transport hub at Thanksgiving to know that it is one of the most popular times to travel. Use these tips to help put a successful Thanksgiving travel plan in place.

Step 1:
Make sure that your house is ready. As long as you're away from home during Thanksgiving, be sure that your home is suitably cared for. Have trusted friends stop by and check on the house every few days. Arrange for pets to be looked after too. If possible, put your lights on automatic timers so they go on and off automatically. To give the illusion that someone is home you might want to have a friend or neighbor pull their car into your driveway. Switch off anything electrical too.

Step 2:
Get your luggage ready. Have everything that you'll need with you to ensure you enjoy. Pack adequate clothing, but don't overdo it; consider the climate for the destination of your Thanksgiving trip. Don't forget any photos that you have been wanting to share with people all year!

Step 3:
If you're driving, get directions or get a GPS! And remember to take the phone numbers of important people so that you can get in touch with them in case something happens. Bring something to pass the time for yourself (or the kids). Thanksgiving travel can be tedious, especially for kids. Have lots to do - get a load of books, hand-held computer games and or iPod in the bring-on bag. Kids can sleep during the trip if you do your travelling at night. This way you will have a more peaceful drive to your Thanksgiving destination.

Step 4:
Allow some additional time to travel. You can't really know what the traffic will be like, so leave a little earlier. You don't want to miss out on turkey!

Step 5:
Stay calm. Your nerves will likely be on edge due to the larger numbers of people in traffic or airports at Thanksgiving. Everyone is just trying to get to their families, the same as you. Have some patience and remind yourself that you will get there in the end. This is not going to happen over night, it may take some time for you to reach your goals, but you will get there. Taking things to nibble on and play with will help pass the time. You will be with your family for Thanksgiving before you realize it!

10 Great Travel Tips

I have been to 80 cities in 30 countries. I'm not a travel expert by any means, but I do have some travel advice for the next guy. The biggest tip I can give is to do your research. Most of the tips I'm going to provide fall in this category and will be explained in greater detail.

Check travel Warnings and Alerts.
Make sure it is safe to travel where you're heading. Travel Warnings and Alerts are available at any of the regional passport agencies and U.S. embassies and consulates abroad. The information is also available online at the Department of State homepage. All information about travel warnings and alerts are updated constantly.

Register your trip. It is a free service provided by the State Department.
I don't want to deter you from traveling, but there is a good number of tourists that disappear each year. By registering your trip, they will at least have a starting place to look if you go missing.

When traveling abroad, make sure you have the address and phone number of your local U.S. Embassy.
In an emergency you want to have this information readily available.

Before traveling, find out if your health insurance company will cover you in an emergency abroad.
In the event of an emergency, cost is not your first concern, I know. It is however, a third or fourth concern. I had a friend who traveled to Thailand and had to have an emergency appendectomy. He spent four days in a hospital in Bangkok and when he got home he had a bill for $20,000 that wasn't covered by his U.S. provider. A travel insurance policy would have cut that cost to almost nothing.

Notify your credit card companies when traveling to unusual places or for long periods of time. The last thing you want to happen is to have your cards canceled by your credit card company because they believed the card had been stolen.

When checking your backpack at an airport, use a pack cover to prevent pockets opening and straps catching on conveyor belts. Now I can tell you from experience you don't want to be the person at the airport collecting their pack that is open and ripped to shreds. To add insult to injury, my journal was missing and everyone in baggage claim saw what type of boxers I wear.

Keep 20 bucks in your shoe. In an emergency, $20 can get you a ride, meal, and a phone call. It hasn't happened to me but I have met people with horror stories about being robbed abroad. With no money and no ID, they had to beg for a few bucks for a cab ride to the U.S. Embassy.

If your unsure about drinking the water where you're going, use a water bottle with a filter. You can get one at any camping store. When I was in Egypt and I was kicking myself for not having one of these. Remember different countries have different organisms in the water that the locals' bodies are used to. Forgieners might not have that same luck in drinking the water. When in doubt, drink bottled water with a name that you trust.

Go with the flow. Traveling, especially aboard is one of the best experiences you could possibly have. You'll meet tons of travelers who just want to see the world and have a good time doing it. Be respectful of others and their beliefs when abroad because they might be different from your own. Be open minded and friendly and I guarantee you'll have a great time.

Business of Leisure & Components of Leisure Travel and Motivation

Leisure is the time available to the individual when work, sleep and other needs have been met. Leisure as a construct involves a number of dimensions.

· Absorption and concentration of ongoing experience
· Lessening of focus on self
· Feelings of freedom and lack of restraint
· Enriched perception of objects and events
· Increased intensity of emotions
· Increased sensitivity to feelings
· Decreased sensitivity to passage of time

The Components of Leisure Motivation

Beard and Ragheb identified four motivational needs derived from Maslow's hierarchy of needs. These needs form the components of leisure motivation. They are -

· Intellectual component
· Social component
· Competence mastery
· Stimulus avoidance

Intellectual component is the extent to which individuals are motivated by mental activities such as learning, exploring, discovering, thought, imaging. This can be a primary high need (a visit to Madurai to study temple architecture) or a low need triggered by a specific event or environment.

Social component is the need for friendship, self-esteem and interpersonal relationship. The holidays are not only status- or ego- enhancing experiences. There is also a sense of belonging with the place visited. People tend to identify with a place visited. This is higher for people who are more satisfied with their holidays and for those with three or more visits. The relationship not only involves social identification but also a relationship with the geographical place.

Competence mastery component is in order to achieve, challenge, master and compete. This is often physical (i.e. sports) but also includes fine arts and other intellectual pursuits. Competence mastery is coupled with other components of leisure motivation. A course in wind surfing (competence mastery) can also mean meeting like -minded individuals (social need).

Stimulus avoidance is drive to escape and get away from over-simulating life experiences. The most obvious component of leisure motivation, a chance to rest and unwind.

The components of leisure motivation vary within holidays and between holidays. On a holiday, a tourist may rest for few days (stimulus avoidance); thereafter explore the place (intellectual component). The holidaymaker may assign different purposes to holidays. One holiday might be family centred (social need), the other for playing golf (competence mastery) etc.
